Looks like I scored 4 out of 5 in category and 7 out of 10 overall. Considering how much time I spent at the range practicing to get my groups to be smaller, I’d like to say I’ll do better on the next match, but I don’t know if I have the time! I have to say, we have some really good shooters out there. That target was a bitch. I can’t imagine being able to get some of those high scores.  I have a long way to go before I can pull something like that off.

I’d like to say again that the target was stupid hard. I attribute my centerfire success to mostly luck and a good trigger.
Honestly, though the best group I’ve ever gotten out of that revolver was about 2.5 inches at 25 yards – that means that hitting those bullseyes is more luck than skill.
With groups that I’m able to make, there’s definitely a big element of luck. Plus, my groups tend to start out crappy, get better in the course of an evening, then go back to crap at some point. I’d like to understand what I start doing that makes them start getting worse.
Another thing that I found hard about this target is that my method would be to shoot 5 rounds, one at each bullseye, reel the target in and check, then place it back out. If one hit, then shoot four at the remaining holes, and repeat. I think I had the worst luck on whatever the last target was because I would shoot one shot, reel it in, check, then put it back out, totally throwing off whatever feel I would start getting. I wonder if I would have done better to just keep shooting at one until I was pretty sure I had hit it. Maybe next time I need to try a large caliber just so I can more easily see the hole :)
