I’m not Catholic, but isn’t crap like this what caused Martin Luther to tack up his 95 Theses to the door Catholic Church in Wittenburg in 1517? You’d think after sparking the reformation, the Church might have rethought this policy, but apparently not.

Freedom of religion is a wonderful thing, ain’t it?
It was exactly this sort of ritual foolishness, which brought me to leave the Catholic Church. I was raised and worshiped as an Irish Catholic until I was in my mid-20s. Now, I am researching which,if any, religion I will associate myself with. In short, I agree with you.
My family is orange Irish. I’m pretty sure that happened over here, but who knows. My mother was Catholic Irish though. About half at least. The other half, on both sides, is Catholic German.
