Considering what Countertop is saying, I think Jeanmarie Devolities Davis is about to get a harsh lesson in how politics works in the gun issue. There really aren’t many anti-gun votes to attract, bit there are an awful lot of pro-gun votes to lose if you offend on this issue.

I would be happy to see Devolities Davis go down, but as David points out, is Petersen any better?
If the point is that maybe this will help convince the GOP to get its collective head out of its collective ass, I guess I can see it–but her defeat would seem a fairly hollow victory.
Petersen leaves a lot to be desired, but this is Fairfax County. The reason Davis is do hazardous to gun rights in Virginia as a whole is because she and her shithead husband are going to hurt pro-gun Republicans on downstate tickets with this crap. I’m hearing from folks that Virginia GOP is really pissy with the Davis’ right now over this issue.
Nonetheless, I’m not sure I like Petersen enough to campaign for him, but I do hope he beats Davis.
Kurt, in this case, the Republicans must understand that fielding candidates who actively work for gun control means they will lose that critical margin of victory by which most elections are decided. Publicly shoot one (in a metaphorical, non-Petey Hamm kind of way) and the rest will fall in line out of basic survival instinct.
If we’d done an occasional sacrifice more often, that lesson would have been learned by now.
Petersen is fine.
Remember, this is Northern Virginia where literally over half the people who live here moved here from NY or NJ. For his District, Petersen might as well be Ken Cuccinelli compared to the usual fare of bigoted gun banners we get.
FYI, VCDL just endorsed Chap Petersen.
That ought to be enough to get even the GOA crowd out on his behalf. Here’s what they sent out in their mailer
Any word on how the vote counts are coming along so far?
too close in the Cuccinelli race, he’s down by 5% right now, but only 10% of precincts are reporting and the vote difference is about 120.
Chap Petersen, on the other hand, is crushing Jeanmarie Devolites Davis. Just brutally cleaning up. Its 60-40, with nearly 40 percent of precincts reporting.
About time to say goodbye to the whole bigoted gun banning Davis clan.

I was slow to see “Chap” as much better than Jeanmarie, but you and David made a pretty compelling case regarding the importance of burying her (with no violent connotations intended). The fact that exactly that seems to be happening is a big smile.
How ya’ like them f***in’ apples, Bloomberg?
Great news! That should put the fear of God in Rudy.
