According to Thirdpower, there was a march for Ron Paul inside World of Warcraft. He ponders:
I have to admit, that’s pretty inventive. Wonder if the various other politicos are going to try and start organizing cyberspace rallies now.
Inventive, yes. Effective? Probably not. What do you think a WoW player would rather do? Play World of Warcraft? Or go vote? His supporters are to be commended for their dedication, but if there’s one thing we’ve seen in this election and in past ones, buzz online doesn’t translate well into electoral success. Traditional campaign methods still rule the day.
Discussing it w/ my wife last night, I brought up the idea that it could result in “Rally Wars” like what the Nazi’s and Communists used in the 30’s, attacking one anothers Rallies and gatherings, but online. She replied “That sounds kinda cool”.

Uh, well, I’m a WoW player and I’d rather go vote.

Despite the MSM pretty much completely ignoring him, he still managed to pull 10% last night in Iowa. He was only 3% behind your darling Fred Thompson, who has been covered to death. While the internet completely and totally failed Howard Dean, it’s actually kept Ron Paul going at a success level almost equal to candidates getting tons of mainstream press coverage. Who knows how well he’d be doing if he wasn’t being pointedly ignored by the media.
The WoW maintainers could make an “election coup” event. It’d probably be pretty cool.
