The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State …

It’s interesting to note that at least Mudcat went into the comments and took questions from readers himself. Romney’s campaign won’t stoop to that level. They are insisting the F&S editors send questions and they can choose one from the comments. How very Mitt. He won’t dare even send someone else to deal with the riff raff little people.
Dear Gov. Romney:
You support the prohibition of so-called Assault Weapons, which are semi-automatic “civilian†versions of military small arms.
The issue of the Second Amendment currently stands before the US Supreme Court. If the Court were to rule that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, and also rules (as they did in Miller, 1939) that the criterion for protection is that arms have “some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militiaâ€, it is clear that “assault weapons†would be among those firearms most clearly protected from prohibition.
How would you reconcile your support for an “assault weapons†ban with such a ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States?
I haven’t seen anything that Romney will have the guts to answer. That should tell you where he stands if his history isn’t enough. I do think we will get a non answer to questions that weren’t asked.
