Now I want to see a counter campaign from Jack Daniels or Maker’s Mark. It could say “In a Maker’s Mark World” and have a picture of a Kentucky redneck punching a Canadian or something.
Bourbon. Real Americans drink bourbon. :)
Bourbon is a whisky :)
Bourbon is whisky like a Mustang is a Ford.
Technically you’re right, but theres a metaphysical thing going on there.
What Joe said.
Well, I don’t drink vodka. and I don’t eat at pizza hut. So, my boycotts will actually just be maintaining the status quo.
heh. Good thing I saw this today – I’m responsible for buying the liquor for the camping trip.
Joe is right; bourbon is technically whiskey, but it’s like saying that college baseball is the same as pro baseball just because they use bats.
I was going to correct him for saying whiskey instead bourbon specifically, but I have apparently been treed.
Read the link, and you’ll see Maker’s Mark is in the process of being bought by them.
Real Americans drink all kinds of liquor. What they don’t drink, however, is Absolut – not because of this stupid ad from their local marketer, but because it’s horrible.
I’d rather drink Monopolowa, and Monopolowa’s cheaper.
The best vodka, of course, is made from potatoes anyway.
(But I’d rather drink a fine anejo tequila.)
If Maker’s Mark is off the menu, may I suggest Knob Creek as a substitute? Awesome stuff.
Bah… give me Eagle Rare or 1792 any day of the week. It’s just fine neat.
Woodford reserve > all.
Woodford reserve is good, but I like 1792 the best.
1792 Ridgemont is fantastic. Easily my favorite bourbon, but it’s hard to find sometimes in Indy, I only know of one store that stocks it.
What’s wrong with vodka? You just have to buy quality vodka, made domestically with Maine potatoes, and triple distilled instead of taking the same shortcuts as the mass produced crap.

Just to add to the “Real Americans drink bourbon” comment: bourbon is the official spirit of the United States of America (see fun fact #21).
I’ll also second the Knob Creek recommendation. I’ll have to try 1792, though.
Bulliet is good too. And sebastian got me on the Eagle Rare, which is quite good.
Buffalo Trace is also quite good and relatively inexpensive. It won some major award and my local liquor store owner recommended it to me. Very smooth.
Yeah… very smooth… so smooth that when you mix it with coke by taste, you end up making something thermonuclear ;)
I like Tennessee’s finest Jack Daniels Old No.7
Simple.
Southern.
Good.
And American as Apple Pie.
A friend who likes sampling various vodkas told me he prefers Blue Ice to all others:
