From the tolerant and thoughtful progressives in Delaware:
Dude, you’re not originally from the south. Your grammar and spelling are too good. Where did you grow up?
Stereotype much? As a fellow northerner, I hate people who say crap like this. And I don’t just say that because I’m living with a native Oklahoman. Two things have to be true to believe this:
- You have to have spent very little time in The South, and very little time getting to know people there.
- You’ve never looked too terribly hard at people around you.
Ignorance is everywhere, and northern progressives don’t get a pass just for being northern progressives. It’s definitely true in this case.
Dude, lighten up. It was a joke. I’m married to a southerner. That said, I’m pretty sure the original blog post on delawareliberal.net was a story about a church in Oklahoma that was having a gun giveaway. Nice.
Oh, and a funny joke at that, Dom.
What a RIOT! Ever think of starting a comedy routine? I mean bigotry is funny stuff!
Now if you’ll excuse me, this Georgian has to go break in a new King James bible and clean his arsenal.
Remind me why those dumb, cousin-humping rednecks don’t vote Democrat?
They do in Pennsylvania :)
I’m in the middle of reading Shelby Foote’s epic “The Civil War: A Narrative.” He was a native of Mississippi.
Maybe the reply to Delawareliberal is to quote Wayne’s World:
Wayne: Or, imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to… Delaware.
[pauses]
Wayne (not sure what to say): Hi. I’m in Delaware.
My mom was born in Jackson Ms, my grandparents were born in Hermanville,Ms and are buried there….
delaware gave you your gunpowder to shoot your guns at stuff for quite a few years. I said shoot, not kill, don’t go apeshit on me please….
Oklahoma isn’t part of the South… at least in my book. I also don’t think parts of Appalachia and parts of Texas should count, either. I believe it depends upon the ratio of Neo-Confederates to normal people.
