SayUncle, Robb and Dave Hardy report that Florida’s licensing rate is up to 1 in 35 residents. Pikers! All of them. Pennsylvania issues about 550,000 – 600,000 licenses to carry in total, which comes out to about 1 in 20 Pennsylvania residents with an LTC. And you can’t even open carry in Florida! Of course, even in states where open carry is legal, you still have some places that aren’t getting the message.

Yeah, but you guys don’t have a training requirement, right? So its harder for you to get reciprocity eh?
Yeah, last year, I looked at the numbers, and Pennsylvania was #3, just behind Indiana and uh, North or South Dakota, don’t remember which was #1.
We have a huge percentage of tourists and snowbirds. Also, pricks like Wexler who live in DE all year around but count as Florida residents on paper.
Here in New Hampshire that ratio is…
…oh wait, No one knows. The state doesn’t keep track of those, because it’s none of their damn business!
I win.
You do indeed. Actually, our records are private, and our numbers are an estimate based on state police processing of background checks (they have a specific flag in the PICS system for background checks done for gun licenses, and publish the volume each year). Somewhere the state police have a database of license numbers, and whether they are valid, but I don’t think there’s identifying information on those. Back when newspapers were publishing shit on licensees, I called a few county sheriffs, and all them stated they could not give out any information on license holders.
Sure, they do. The state knows how many licenses have been issued. That doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily public information, though.
And here in MA, the ratio is something like {Jay goes to check population stats}…
1:100, give or take…
