Perhaps they need to be introduced to the death of a thousand paper cuts.
“To fight crime and keep Americans safe, this country needs sound gun-control laws. To pass those laws as president, Mr. Obama will need strong Congressional support.”
It’ll be kind of hard to get that congressional support when I can name at least 4 Democratic Senators off the top of my head that are pro 2nd Amendment. Furthermore, the Democrats control the House in large part because of Blue Dog Democrats, who are overwhelmingly pro 2nd Amendment. If Obama dares to call for another AWB, the work the NRA did in the ’06 and ’08 Congressional elections will pay huge dividends.
