The session ended without a vote on the bill. Gun control groups are already hailing the victory. But look at where the front line is?  Removing the prohibitions on carry on campuses.  They won… for now. Time to get motivated in Texas.

The campus and parking lot carry laws died for only one reason: the Republican legislators’ insistence on a Voter ID law, and the pushback by their Democratic counterparts on same, and the failure of Republican leadership in breaking the logjam in the Texas House of Representatives (note that Republicans have a substantial majority). Basically everything else got put on hold while the House was paralyzed by that issue. Lots of good legislation in this session died because of Voter ID.
What Mike said.
I hate it when they have to call special sessions, but since a LOT of business didn’t get taken care of during the regular session due to the Voter ID debacle, I really hope Gov. Perry calls a special session to get things finished.
