The Pocono Record congratulates Senator Specter and Senator Casey for opposing the concealed carry measure, apparently not bothering to check whether or not Casey voted for or against it (he voted for it).

The Pocono Record seems to have taking on more and more of an anti-gun slant over the years, despite the fact of the region being quite densely populated with folks who believe in excercising their second amendment rights. Monroe County alone has among the highest concentration of LTCF holders anywhere in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The region is seeing a lot of people settling there from New Jersey and New York, who bring their attitudes about guns with them when they move.
Sebastian, you got that one right about all the people from Jersey and New York moving to the Poconos. It started out as a trickle about 15 years ago, and the floodgates really opened up after the 9/11 attacks.
We long-timers around here call them “fence-jumpers,” but not all of them bring along such ignorant attitudes about the reality of what legal gun ownership means.
I’ve met a few recent transplants over the last couple of years who have told me how glad they were to actually live in an area where folks can openly discuss gun-related topics without others making faces or snide comments over it.
Anyway, I have no idea who is writing these anti-gun editorials for the Pocono Record, but I have a sneaking suspicion it’s not the same folks from 20 or 30 years ago.
