At least one rabbi wants to see that Jewish congregations are prepared for the possibility of anti-Semitic violence. Â Last time I was at a synagogue, I was only one of several armed individuals. Â I think it’s a lot more common than you would imagine.

The only one I’ve attended often has a regular police presence along the entrance routes. They’re mostly directing traffic because of the temples poor traffic flow, but it’s nice to know they’re there anyway.
I’ve carried at church, but it’s one of the few places I’m inconsistent about.
Plus, my wife hates it ……….
I think you’re wrong – the Jewish community is not pro-gun. Loudest silence I have ever heard is when I casually mentioned taking a defensive pistol class at our Jewish Young Adults dinner a few months back. American Jews have not learned the lessons of our kin in the Middle East.
Either that or American Jews are like other Americans, and some are pro-self-defense and others don’t like guns.
This guy is in NYC… So tell me just how many of these “trained” rabbi’s are going to get carry permits in NYC. Let’s see. My guess is zero and none. Self protection is not grounds for issuance of a permit. If these folks persist in defending themselves they’ll just be classified as paranoid nuts and charged as fellons if caught.
Once met a guy in a restaurant, he & his son heard us talking about guns; very liberal Jew who was also very “I have guns, I carry, and they will not take them from me.”
Kind of starts to balance all the Jews I’ve met/known who disliked the idea of firearms intensely.
