I’m outraged that this gun buyback program is getting state funding:
The program was partly funded through the state’s Weed and Seed anti-crime initiative with matching funds paid by the city and assistance from the Hopewell Giant Eagle, Pallante said.
Here’s the state FAQ on the program. I think we need to get legislators to alter the Weed & Seed program to prevent money being used to buy back and destroy guns.
Seems like they wuld make more money for the State if they held an auction for FFL’s and shop owners a couple times a year!
Destruction doesn’t seem right!
I always thought “Weed and Seed” was a funny name for a program. Are they encouraging marijuana use and “seeding your oats”?
Even the “junk” guns could be sold by the state to a gunsmithing school for starter projects.
Aliquippa, PA Mayor Anthony Battalini is an Illegal Mayors Against Guns member, so this news, while disturbing, is not surprising.
I am in complete agreement that a legislative remedy is in order to prevent further waste, fraud, and abuse of this kind.
