By coincidence, just after the demonstrators arrived, I was on an outdoor balcony on the third floor of the convention center that overlooked the area you mentioned. I tried to count the relatively square body of protesters and came up with approximately 225`-250.
That is approximately 1/280th of the NRA attendees, but they must have gotten half the coverage.
