Debate Over Minnesota Castle Doctrine

Good debate over the Castle Doctrine debate in Minnesota. This would also open up reciprocity in the North Star State to recognize all other state licenses. I’m particularly keen on that provision because Minnesota, otherwise, is a tough state to get a reciprocal license for. The language of the bill can be found here.

Of course, the best reason to get this passed is because it’ll really upset Joan Peterson, who has been cheering on CSGV’s campaign of releasing personal information of gun bloggers.

  1. “Minnesota laws authorize individuals holding gun permits from the following states to carry in Minnesota:

    Alaska
    Arkansas
    Kansas
    Kentucky
    Louisiana
    Michigan
    Missouri
    New Mexico
    Nevada
    Ohio
    Oklahoma
    Tennessee
    Texas
    Utah
    Wyoming ”

    Look at Nevada over Utah.

  2. Wow. Some relatively good (and vigorous) discussion over there! Who would have thought that this was such a big deal!

I am biased … but I suspect much of the “passion” in the opposition is driven simply by a personal desire to oppose “the NRA” or the “gun people” on cultural grounds.

So it goes. I suspect Dayton might sign this when it passes?

  3. I sat not 6 feet from Joan and Heather Martens at the inital hearing…the absolute emotional garbage they spouted was calculated political capital…much liike the “Stop Shoot First” stickers they stuck on the innocent high school tour group that happened to be there as well.
Supporters of the bill vastly outnumbered opponents.
