Why would anyone carry a gun that could be traced to them?
And cops say civilians aren’t responsible enough to carry guns………..
Errr, I don’t think many cops say that, especially if you discount the political types at the top.
Certainly not any of the ones who taught my Missouri concealed carry course, every one was an active duty officer, the leader semi-retired from policing the big city ^_^ of Joplin to being the police chief of a small suburb of it.
Can’t say I was entirely comfortable at the way he admired my “off the shelf” Wilson 1911 but his general demeanor was sort of severe, and, hey, that further showed he definitely knew his stuff. And his obvious heartfelt reluctance when telling us not to talk to the arriving police unless the case was crystal clear was therefore all the more convincing.
Now, lots of gun-grabbers say the police etc. are the “only ones” who can be trusted (Dukakis on the front page of NRA publications: “I do not believe in people owning guns. Guns should be owned only by [the] police and military. I am going to do everything I can to disarm this state.“), as well as, say, the Internal Chiefs of Police (rather a lot from police states), but that’s of course a very different thing. And currently a losing proposition.
