Illinois State Rep. Edward Acevedo (D-Chicago), sponsor of the gun bans, discovers the fate of his bills, which were pulled from the agenda and not voted on. Standing next to him, busily texting, is NRA’s lobbyist for Illinois.

He seems a bit… Shell shocked.
and that is why you give the NRA money.
I looked up his record.
In addition to being a toolbag on the 2A he opposes allowing citizens to record police officers conducting official duties in public places — then again he has worked as a cop so I guess it is just a professional courtesy for his fellow Chicago PD security professionals, who always behave 100% ethically. He’s voted to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.
He was investigated for ethics abuses by Rod Blagojevich. You know you’re hitting rock bottom when R.B. is concerned about your unethical behavior.

And I think that right there makes comment of the week .
“he opposes allowing citizens to record police officers conducting official duties in public places”
While the last time I checked the courts aren’t buying this, Illinois is uniquely the only state in the union to explicitly criminalize this.
Reminds me of an anecdote told to us while doing the Missouri CCW training course, all the instructors were active duty police. This one mentioned doing some sort of joint investigation that took them to Illinois, and as they were getting out their wiretapping gear they were told they effectively couldn’t use it since by state law any target would have told fairly quickly if they were subject to a wiretap. He said “At that moment I realized who ran Illinois”.
Another side note, Obama’s replacement of the abusive and even then rather convenient Patrick Fitzgerald as the northern US Attorney with a Chicago insider is telling. Given the restrictions on state investigators the Feds are the only ones who can effectively do the job. Chris Cristie is also a former US Attorney with a lot of corrupt pelts, and he says every day he gives thanks for the existence of the even more corrupt Louisiana and Illinois….
Fast Eddie got slowed down.
I’ll happily take any victory I can get nowdays, even if it’s only temporary.
