Joe Huffman seems to have had the IPSC stage from hell this weekend, and got bitten by his 1911, which malfunctioned. When I shoot silhouette, I use a Ruger Mk.III. Holding taco, you bring the pistol in close for a more stable position. I have to be careful not to hold too close, or the slide comes back and punches me in the nose. That’s about the worst I’ve ever gotten in competition.

sure would love to find the time and opportunity to get involved in competitve shooting. Anyone know where they do that within driving range in Northern Virginia (and at times someone who has a job – a job in DC which requires me to stop at home on the way to the match to grab my guns – can make it . . . ie: dont start the fucking match at 4:30 on a thursday afternoon)
Go to the UPSA website. On the right-hand side of the page near the top is a “Club Finder” tool.

Rifle competition is a little harder to find but talk to your local gun club and I’m sure someone can help you find something.
USPA – Nearest Club – 45 miles in one direction (with worse traffic) or 73 miles in the other
Steel – 65 miles
IDPA – actually has options nearby. Thanks!
