NRA is asking folks to go comment on the long gun reporting requirement ATF is proposing. You can read their comments here. Clearly what ATF needs it more guns being reported to it that it will fail to adequately track.

I’ll be sure to comment, but I thought the ATF didn’t have statutory authority to do this…
The law is what people are willing to enforce. From speed limits to agency restrictions.
In short, they think they can get away with it long enough to entrench it.
So what happened to this interview and announcements made last week regarding sporting purposes provisions? Was that just a gesture, or?
Or what? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the NRA doesn’t exactly run Congress.
Or, a Representative that works closely with the NRA will introduce a bill, amendment, or motion to this tune. Or, we will see more articles, propaganda, material backing the notion up in the various pro-gun press. Will we hear of this again or was this just a gesture.
