I’m not sure what the advantages to this design are, but it looks interesting.
UPDATE: Uncle says it’s to get a longer barrel in a smaller package. Didn’t think of that. One thing though, is I thought it was pretty difficult to do a straight blowback operation with a cartridge as powerful as 9mm? Hi-point does it with its 9mm pistol, but it also has a huge block of metal for a slide. Exceptionally powerful springs in this maybe?  Is that going to be reliable enough? Someone who knows more about gun design that I do can hopefully answer.
longer barrel in smaller package?
I don’t see anything that says it’s blowback operated. In fact it looks like there’s a locking lug of some sort atop the barrel near the chamber that matches up with the slide.
The recoil spring encircles the barrel, so I’d guess it’s pretty stout. Nifty design, I wish it was coming out sooner as I’m getting ready to buy a Kahr PM9. I’d love to hold both in my hand to compare, but really don’t want to go through another summer trying to hide my Glock 30 under shorts and a t-shirt. 6 months until expected release, and then probably another 6 months before I could find one to buy (the local distributor STILL hasn’t gotten hold of the new Walther PPS).
Yeah, the big advantage is that you squeeze a 4 inch tube into a subcompact package. Since the 9mm performs best when you give it as much velocity as possible, this is patently a “good thing”.
The demo model also had a sweet trigger, but then again it’s a prototype so it ought to.
