Mass stabbing in Ohio. Note I don’t hear about this from the media. Clearly if we just had universal background checks on all knives, and required them to be locked in a safe when not in use, things like this just wouldn’t happen.

And you can feel SOOOOO much better about being stabbed to death than being shot to death don’t you know.
The piece of garbage is in critical condition. Another reason to arm yourself. When will the left wake up?
I believe that Comedian Nick Swardson said it best with regard to being stabbed:

How was he stopped?
Rat-tail comb?
Shaker of pepper?
Did someone vomit on themself?
Even though it’s a fairly obvious point, I really wish our side would stop saying things like that. Knife rights are under attack just as surely as firearms rights have been over the years, with fewer voices speaking up to protect those rights. http://www.kniferights.org/
I don’t see any of the above as any serious criticism of knives, simply of the hypocrisy of anti-gun types.
In a way though, the anti-knife folks “won” their “assault weapons ban” battle too early and almost by accident. The Federal, and majority of state, switchblade, gravity knife, dirk/dagger, balisong, etc. bans were enacted decades ago due to racist Hollywood-inspired gang fears, not by a nascent, coherent “anti-knife” lobby.
They never got the chance to make a planned incremental, “anti-knives in general” argument to sway the populace.
Conversely, Knife Rights.org is fairly young and yet they have, quite properly, been able to piggy-back on the past decades’ gains in gun possession and carry rights. After all, once you can carry loaded guns in public and have laws pre-empting local interference, with no real negatives to show for them, it’s fairly easy to point out that not doing the same for knives, even “ooh scary switchblades,” is a little asinine.
Anyway, outside of the towers of idiocy on the coasts I see from their own reports Knife Rights pretty much has the initiative and is able to focus most of its effort on expanding rights everywhere gun rights have expanded, not defending against intrusions, except in places already cornered and desperately pushing back on gun rights.
Matthew, we read that sort of thing as obvious, blinding sarcasm. They read it as a Damn Good Idea — something we should cram down everyone’s throats, for the children. You think you’re pointing out hypocrisy (and you are!) but to the extent the other side can see that hypocrisy, all they see is a “loophole” that needs to be closed.
Rights are always more fragile than they appear, and shouldn’t be taken for granted.
In response, 100 ATF officials are furiously writing proposals to funnel guns to potential mass stabbers.
