This bit from Call me Ahab is rather curious:
No guns were recovered from Boyar’s dormitory room, but Guimond says officers found evidence that weapons had been in the room.
What is evidence that guns had been in the room? Do they leave footprints?
the only thing I can think of is pictures on his myspace page.
Bullet holes in the walls? Spent shell casings?
Maybe they found loaded magazines or some other gun accessory?
I know! It’s the DNA of the gun that they found! Yeah, that’s it!! D. N. A. There, glad we solved that little mystery.
So, an updated article says that the police found pictures which depicted the guns in the room – but the police were tipped off by his roommate.
The roommate also said that he “talked about VA Tech and had nazi literature”. For some reason, my gut instinct says that something is fishy about that story, but hey, I could be wrong.
They could have found a gun case or something …
After drug paraphernalia, gun paraphernalia?
The pictures are unfortunately damning evidence, and he had the misfortune to pick a hoplophobe for a roommate. He must’ve known he was about to get busted, since he moved the guns to his parents’ house.
At 19, he’s too young to own a handgun, but the long guns he had were otherwise legally his to own, it’s just a violation of state law and university regs to keep them on campus.
I’d personally have no problem with an under-21 student keeping a double-barreled “coach gun” or basic pump shotgun in his dorm for personal protection against a robbery or assault (rare, but it does happen), but I think we will see campus concealed carry pass for 21+ long before we see 18-20 year old American adults getting to maximally enjoy *their* 2A rights as well while away at college.
One of the articles also says he confessed.
