Kim du Toit to Stop Blogging

We wish him the best.  Seriously… blogging is tough.  To do it well is a fair amount of work.  It’s something that occupies much of your waking thought.  At some points, it’s more of a burden than fun.  I can understand why folks get tired of it.  I am not very close to that myself, but in five years, who knows.  I imagine I will probably always have some sort of presence on Al Gore’s Internets, and I don’t see myself ever getting out of gun rights activism.

Kim is one of the early gun blogging pioneers, who, along with Bitter, SayUncle, and Jeff Soyer, were among the first to draw me into this corner of the Blogosphere.

GBR III – Supporting Project Valor-IT

Looks like we’ll be supporting Project Valor IT once again in Reno.  That’s fine by me, since I thought Chuck did a fine job representing them in 2007, and it’s a great cause.  Everyone should come out to Reno on Oct 9-12 2008.  I will be there, along with other bloggers and readers.  Bring a lot of guns and ammunition, because there’s some good shooting out there at the Washoe County Regional Shooting Facility.  When we’re not shooting, the Car Museum in Reno is well worth a visit.  Also, don’t miss the fine buffets.

All bloggers and blog readers are welcome to attend.  Just head over to the site to get the details.

Quote of the Day

From Mike Vanderboegh, in the comments:

All of these things I have done for years to no avail. Do you think my stance has been crafted without experience, without thought? On the other hand, I have watched as you have used this blog to excuse ATF misconduct in the Olofson case, blaming the victim for his own framing. What then have you done to validate your brave words at the top of this blog? Diddly squat, I’d say.

You know, there are honestly some days where I don’t even know why I bother.  Expect posting to be light today.

Another Former Californian

Linoge has moved out of California to escape the insanity.  I certainly don’t blame him, but some advice that Cam Edwards always offers, and I think it’s good advice, is to stay a member of your former home state’s association, and stay active fighting there as best you can.  Someone has to fight the good fight.  I’m a member of both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey state associations.

We wish him luck in his new pro-gun home of Tennessee, which I think it might actually be legal to punch hippies, rather than be ruled by them.

We Won Heller …

… and all I got was this lousy headache.  Yeah, from this.  Drunk blogging climaxed right around this post, which you might have guessed from the swearing, and my not being my normal, analytical self.  Of course, that’s not to say I still don’t stand behind what I wrote.

All Your Search Are Belong to Us

Someone set us up the google bomb!  The fun thing about these search results on the term Law Abiding Gun Owner is that, quite literally on Monday, SayUncle sent a few of us bloggers an e-mail saying “We should probably get our google-fu on to squash this one before it starts,” and by the close of business on Tuesday, we had practically pushed the Brady Blog clean off the first page.

Our google-fu is mighty indeed!

UPDATE: So Says Uncle: “Close of business nothing.  It was 23 minutes after my 9:07AM post.”  So it’s even better than I thought!

UPDATE: Looks to me like now they are clean off the front page, and moving down the second.
