For a blog that’s only a week old, I’m rather pleased to have a record day of 500 hits from 280 hosts with 300 visitors and 330 sessions.  For everyone who visited or visits, I hope you will come back again, and maybe be a regular reader.

I’d also like to announce another blogroll addition.   Conservative Scalawag

He has a few videos on his blog that I thought were interesting.  The posts will come up tomorrow morning.

I noticed that WordPress tends to scrozzle the formating sometimes.  I’m liking WordPress overall, but I think the editor leaves a lot to be desired.  I used to do LiveJournal in plain old fashioned HTML.  I think I’m going to have to do the same on WordPress.

So on the first week of the blog I’ve managed 858 visits to the site, from 787 hosts, totalling 1618 hits. I’m not complaining for a first week. Many thanks to those who have linked to me, particularly Bitter and Unc, who’s kind links are responsible for a good portion of my traffic. Thanks also to the folks who I can see have me bookmarked. You guys are about half my traffic! I hope I can keep coming up with reasons for you to come back to visit.

Also, I’m always looking for topics and things to blog about, particularly if they have a Pennsylvania slant to them, so if you have ideas, feel free to send them to sebastian at snowflakes in hell . com.

Since I work in the Pharmaceutical Industry, I found Glenn’s quote on this bogus Harvard study that was bought and payed for by the Joyce Foundation to be pretty amusing:

If a drug company were as cavalier about science as these people are, its executives would all be in jail.

It’s not my intention to make this a group blog, but I will invite guest bloggers from time to time to blog about things that I have no expertise on, but that I think would be of interest to folks. To that end, my first guest blogger will be my friend Brad, who will blog about The Philadelphia Eagles. Brad is an escapee from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, and currently resides with his wife and kids in Chester County, PA, so at heart, he’s really still a Patriots fan, but we won’t hold that against him.

Time for a new category titled “Things I Don’t Understand”, where I chronicle things that just have never made sense to me. The first one is why so many people on the left hate Ann Althouse, and make a regular point of harassing her.

Prof. Althouse has always struck me as being gracious and amiable, and about as far away as one can get from being an left/right ideologue. So why does the left want to crucify her so? Seriously, if you hate Ann, you should hate me a lot more, because I’m more right-of-center than Ann is, but I’ll bet I couldn’t attract a fraction of the wrath she does. Why? That’s something I don’t understand.

I think the people running around out there trying to cause trouble for Prof Althouse need to a) get lives, and b) take a long hard look at yourself, because you’ve become as estranged from reality as Paris Hilton is from chastity.

I’m trying to branch out to read more gun blogs for sources of material. Countertop I’ve seen posting on Bitter’s site, so I figured I’d add him. I’ve been an occasional reader of Bruce’s mAss Backwards for a while, so I thought I’d become a more regular reader. Pro-Gun Progressive and Clayton Cramer differ from the libertarian gun bloggers I already read, albeit at opposite ends of the political spectrum, and The Ten Ring seems like a reasonable blog, so it’s on there now.

I will be adding more soon. I have to work on getting a decent RSS aggregation set up. I’m keen to use something in PhP that I can keep local on my server here. Up until now I’ve been using Thunderbird, but it has too many deficiencies for me to continue using it.
