He held his fire because he was concerned about hitting bystanders, but the shooter saw him and the next bullet the shooter fired was the one he used on himself. These mass shooters are generally cowards. They are not itching for a gun fight, and it’s typical that they off themselves when confronted with someone who has the capability to fight back.

Gun Pulled in AFP Tent Vandalism?
As you may or may not have heard, Michigan (Michigan!) passed a Right-to-Work law. Needless to say the Unions are, shall we say, a bit upset, and decided to storm an AFP tent and tear it down. Apparently they came at the tent with knives drawn (to tear the tent down, of course, not to intimidate or anything). One of them punched Steven Crowder. Am I hearing things here, or is one of the union thugs stating that someone has a gun, and then getting all tough guy?
Dana Loesch is raising funds to have the thug brought to justice. Glenn Reynolds has pledged 1000 dollars to the cause. I don’t know if there was really a gun in there but I would suggest any activist going up against unions be well armed, especially with less than lethal force. Don’t start anything, but I wouldn’t let them assault people and destroy property either. It should be noted that most defensive sprays contain a taggant, which helps police identify the perpetrator quickly. Most states laws are also pretty lenient when it comes to using force against unruly crowds.
It should also be noted that wise tactics suggest anyone coming at you with a drawn knife should soon find himself quickly in the unenviable position of realizing he’s just brought a knife to a gunfight. I’m wondering if that’s what happened here, and the arm person successfully got out of dodge (the wise move).
I agree with Glenn: “Zero tolernace for this crap.” Arm yourselves well.

New Zimmerman Evidence
The more I hear about the prosecutor in the Zimmerman case, the more I think she has no business wielding state power. It looks like the prosecution was withholding key evidence, that has now only come to light due to supplemental discovery in the case. TalkLeft, run by a defense attorney, also notes some deception on the part of Benjamin Crump as to the age of one of the witnesses, who it may seem is not a juvenile, as was claimed.
Wasting Money
Anderson Cooper does some investigating reporting showing the great wastage in Chicago programs intended to fight crime, but which may, in fact, be giant scams. Dave Hardy also notes a 5.9 million dollar federal grant to several Ohio cities to “fight gun violence” which seems to have just up and disappeared. Imagine what could have been achieved if instead of spending the money on BS programs like this, the money had gone to help keep criminals in prison longer?
Sports Celebrity Murder Suicide
It’s hard for celebrity induced tragedies like this to register very high on my give-a-shit-o-meter. I hate this impulse to blame the gun, as if it’s so hard to suggest that maybe Belcher was just an asshole, because, you know, that’s what we call murderers who leave their kid an orphan. PJ Media had this to say about it:
How was the “gun culture†to blame for the violent actions of a grown man? Was a gun the only means by which a professional athlete might have killed himself and someone else? Of course not.
Costas’ remarks constitute exploitation of a tragedy in order to push a political point that Whitlock, Costas, and NBC no doubt already believed, and only used the moment to forward. They all should be ashamed of themselves. But our current media culture is one in which shame does not exist. Neither does the truth.
NBC is part owned by Comcast Corporation, who’s CEO is a major Democratic donor. I feel better about cutting the cord every day. The gun control advocacy groups are rank amateurs when it comes to exploiting tragedy, though they are usually not more than a few rungs above ambulance chasing lawyers on the tragedy exploitation totem pole. But they have nothing on the media. Tragedy is their bread and butter, because it makes a good story and gets eyeballs on the glowing box and clears the dead tree matter off the shelves.
If At First You Don’t Succeed, Double Down on Failure

Within the last hour Associated Press has reported through dozens of media outlets that at least 3 people are dead as a result of a shooting spree at a southwestern farm in Finland.

The tragic news comes during a time that the country is aggressively seeking to tighten their control of firearms, especially hand weapons. Just this past Wednesday the Finnish parliament successfully voted to approve a newly amended Gun Control Act.
And what amendments will be demanded to stop this one? And then what happens when that fails to stop the mass shooters? You can see where this is going, because it’s where things have gone in many other countries. The Port Authur massacre lost Australians the right to semi-automatic rifles. Dunblane lost pistols for the British. School shootings in Germany lead to stricter rules there. Mass shootings have been a boon to the International Gun Control movement, so it’s no shocker the groups here do their level best to exploit them politically, despite ample evidence strong gun laws do not stop mass shootings.
Shooting Competition Used as Evidence?
Looks like someone in Washington is on trial for shooting someone in a road rage incident, and the prosecutors are using his participation in a shooting competition as evidence against him. This reminds me of a story Bitter tells about cops she knew who were competitive shooters, and could ace their qualifications, but deliberately pulled shots so as to avoid the possibility of a jury questioning why they drilled several bullet holes in Sumdood’s center of mass. Probably not a bad idea in some states, considering I once had a coworker from New Jersey that was upset about that very thing serving on a jury for a police shooting.
Another Mass Shooting
This time in France. Looks like four dead. From the sounds of this, it looks to me like it could have been a hit, and an unlucky biker happening by the scene got it. Fifteen shots fired, and as best as I can tell, French police don’t have the killer.
