Apparently he’ll be announcing tomorrow. Looks like this is in preperation to run for president on the Constitution Party ticket. I got to listen to him talk at the Rally in Harrisburg last Monday, and he’s quite a speaker.

Dear Michelle Obama
I was moved by Breda’s latest warning to Michelle Obama about the whole pie thing.
Quote of the Day
“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”
Breda’s response is far better than anything I would say:
Dear Michelle Obama,
If you so much as try to touch my piece of pie, I will stab my fork through the back of your fucking hand – twice, if it’s pumpkin.
And God help you if it’s à la mode.
Yow!
Quote of the Day
From Obama the Socialist Messiah:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Emphasis mine. Rachel Lucas had this to say:
Jesus in a meadow. What classic bullshit.
No kidding. So we’re just a bunch of xenophobic, paranoid Jesus freaks digging a bunker in the back yard because we think the dirty Mexicans stole our jobs, and sharpening our shooting skills in anticipation of invasion of job stealing hordes who will be coming any day now.
Are we really going to elect this elitist piece of shit president? I won’t vote for anyone who thinks of me and my fellow Pennsylvanians so poorly.
Tailing the Obama Bus
Bitter tells it. At least I think it was his bus. I can’t imagine what other bus would be escorted by several state police cruisers, and several suburbans with black windows. Obama was also in my neck of the woods yesterday.  Ran into the caravan headed north on I-95 toward New Jersey on my way to the gun club. Good news is the feds aren’t monitoring bluetooth or cell traffic, since I’m pretty sure my statement to Bitter on the cell “That’s probably one caravan that’s rolling with more firepower than I am” would have prompted some kind of action to pull me over, and for six guys in suits armed with submachine guns to start going over my vehicle and my person with a fine tooth comb.
Understatement of the Year
“John McCain still has some work to do to give them a comfort level. Truth be told, he’s not there yet.â€
I am supporting McCain this election because the alternatives are the kind of thing gun owner nightmares are made of, but if McCain wants me to work hard for him, rather than hard against his opponents, I need to feel good that he’s going to take care of us, particularly when it comes to appointments to the federal courts, which I think will be the single most important contribution the next president will make for gun owners.
Chris’s quote above isn’t the understatement, however. This is:
“This is arguably the most important year in NRA history,†Cox said.
It most definitely is. I believe 2008 is either going to be the year we will look back on as the pivotal year that sent the gun control movement to join the temperance movement in the dungeon of political irrelevance, or it will be the year when gun owners snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Which path we take is entirely up to us.
Sportsmen for Obama
I would have thought we gun bloggers should have crushed this meme successfully, but we haven’t. Look a this.
Today, our campaign announced the membership of our Pennsylvania Sportsmen and Sportswomen for Obama Steering Committee. Avid hunters and anglers from around the state, the committee members lauded Obama for his understanding of and respect for Pennsylvania’s hunting and fishing traditions and his strong record on conservation.
Oh, you mean protecting hunting and fishing by shutting down most of this Nation’s gun shops? Or by screwing pistol hunters by banning their firearms? Or by banning all semi-automatic firearms? Is that how he supports hunting and fishing? By voting against a bill to prevent gun manufacturers from being sued out of business by cities like Obama’s home of Chicago?
Let’s see who the Democrats are who are going to actively help dupe their fellow Pennsylvanians into thinking Barack Obama is their friend:
Frederica (Freddie) Antram, Paul Antram, Michael Aumiller, Arnold Brion, Robin Cole, John Fetterman, State Rep. Marc Gergely, Scott Harrison, Terry Havener, Kenny Jackson, Jeff Knisely, Richard Lanzoni, Tom Maglicco, Steve Naylor, Joe Rossi, Brian Stoltz, Dominic Surra, State Rep. Dan Surra.
These are individuals and politicians who are putting party above principles. Let’s make sure that no one buys the snake oil they are selling about Obama.
Obama Ties to Snuffy Pfleger
Those of us in the gun rights movement are well aware of Reverend Michael Pfleger, nicknamed “Snuffy” after he threatened to snuff out the owner of a Cook County gun shop. Well, it turns out that he’s one of Obama’s spiritual mentors. Some quick facts from Dave’s article:
As a state legislator, Obama obtained $225,000 in grants for St. Sabina. (Chicago Tribune, May 2, 2007.)
Rev. Pfleger was a prominent early endorser of Obama’s successful 2004 Senate campaign, as well as his unsuccessful 2000 challenge to U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush.
Loyalty pays I guess. Especially in Chicago.
UPDATE: In the comments at Volokh, I notice someone calls Dave an “American Zionist”. This is fairly amusing to me, as Dave Kopel (one p, it’s in the title of the post doofus) is Catholic. Pretty clearly this guy doesn’t know that Dave is a Secular Progressive, not an American Zionist. Geez.
Obama on Concealed Carry
No one ever accused Obama of being a smart politican. A talented orator yes, but he makes amaturish mistakes. This is one of them:
“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama said. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”
It should be noted this is a state that issues more than 600,000 concealed carry permits, with Allegheny County, which contains Pittsburgh, issuing more licenses than any other issuing authority anywhere in the country. This area is also pretty heavily Democratic, but this is the part of the state that elects pro-gun Democrats. Hillary didn’t fare much better:
“I … think we should reinstate the assault weapons ban (that expired in 2004) in order to give our police officers a fighting chance against the criminals on the street with these military-style assault weapons,” Clinton said Tuesday.
The assault weapons issue hasn’t come up in our state since the early 90s, and we defeated it. Even the anti-gun people here in Pennsylvania consider it politically unachievable. The candidates saving grace will be that they both suck pretty equally on gun rights, which I can only hope will make many of the pro-gun Democrats that reside in Pennsylvania cross the aisle and vote for John McCain.
UPDATE: Gun Law News has more.
Obama’s Record Not in Question
Obama distanced himself from his record on guns by claiming that his staff had answered questions where he called for banning handguns and semi-automatic firearms. It turns out he was lying:
Late last year, in response to a Politico story about Obama’s answers to the original questionnaire, his aides said he “never saw or approved†the questionnaire.
They asserted the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize[d] his position.â€
But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago nonprofit group that issued it. And it found that Obama — the day after sitting for the interview — filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer.
I’m sorry, did I say he lied? Pretty clearly he just misspoke. Yeah. That’s the ticket.
