Obama Tops $300 Billion Mark

That’s how much more of your money he wants to spend.  It’s 36% higher than what Hillary Clinton is calling for.  Guess where that money is going to come from?  That’s right.  Out of our wallets.

I would note for those of you who think there’s no difference between these two socialist weenies and John McCain, that that National Taxpayer Union, who is keeping track of Obama’s promises to take more and more of our hard earned dollars, lists McCain as a Taxpayer Friend.  He ranks 6th in the Senate.

On Endorsing McCain

Bruce of No Looking Backwards says:

I’ve come to terms with the fact that Fred Thompson is not going to be the next President of the United States. I am, hereby, officially endorsing the candidacy of John McCain for President.

Granted, he is far from being the “perfect candidate”.

Then again, no such man or woman exists. And, if they do, they likely possess the common sense that would compel them to avoid running for president.

I’d say I’m about 70% in agreement with McCain on the issues. But that number drops to approximately zero when looking at what the Democrats will have to offer us this fall. I see it as a choice between a D-student and someone who never bothered to show up for class.

I have not decided yet whether to actively shill for McCain, or just beat up on his opponents mercilessly.  I’m still of the opinion that McCain is far far better than either of those two, and on my big area of disagreement with him, campaign finance reform, he can probably do less further damage as president than he can remaining a senator.

The Night of the Hildabeast

Now that Hillary has won Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, and seems to be on somewhat of a comeback heading into Pennsylvania, I am faced with a dilemma.

John McCain has the election sown up.  My vote as a Republican would be meaningless, short of feeling better by lodging a protest vote for Ron Paul.  What might not be meaningless would be to vote for Hillary in Pennsylvania’s primary, in hopes of keeping the bloodletting among the Democratic candidates going all the way up until the convention.  I will call this The Breda Strategy, since even though I understand Rush Limbaugh has been calling for this, Breda is where I first got the idea.

I kind of like this idea, because it’s a way to avoid voting for McCain in the primary, but still help him out in the general election.  But can I do it?  Can I really pull the lever for that harpy?  How will I feel if I help her win the primary and she actually beats McCain?  I’d say I have a month to decide, but Pennsylvania’s primaries are closed, and the time to switch registration is fast approaching.

Obamamania

And to think, this University of Houston professor gets to shape young minds:

At Poe Elementary School, near Rice University, Marc Zimmerman, a 69-year-old University of Houston professor, said he voted for Obama, noting that the excitement surrounding the Illinois senator was contagious.

“I like being caught up in the wave,” he said.

Caught up in The Wave?   You mean like this one?

Texas Tuesday

Today is the big day for Hillary.  Texas and Ohio primaries.  I’m giving a big presentation today, so I don’t have much time to think about it.  I will leave you in the capable hands of Marshall Manson, who thinks the Democratic primary won’t end today.  I certainly hope so.  The more they fight each other, the less likely we are to have to deal with either of those two in the White House come next January.

Obama’s Waffling on Guns

Cam Edwards outlines some Obama’s contradictions on guns:

But if he holds with the statement that he believes in the individual right to keep and bear arms, but the D.C. Gun Ban somehow passes constitutional muster, I think it’s fair to ask (as Jacob Sullum suggested when I interviewed him today) Senator Obama to name an example of a gun control law that he thinks does or would violate the 2nd Amendment. As it stands, Obama’s turning an “individual right” into something the goverment can violate at will.

It’s hard to really condemn Obama on this when President Bush’s own administratation will be arguing the same thing in front of the Supreme Court in a few weeks.  Obama is just lip service.  Bush is lip service, and is willing to throw us a few table scraps every now and then.  I think we deserve better out of Bush that we’ve gotten, and if gun owners fail to push McCain over the top, McCain will only have Bush to blame for it.

Bogus Criticism

This might be the only time you’ll her me defend Barack Obama, but the people making hay out of this issue need to get bent.  Would it raise an eyebrow if a German-American politician gone to Germany and donned some liederhosen that was given to him?  But who is being accused of circulating this:

“Everybody knows that whether it’s me or Senator Clinton or Bill Clinton that when you travel to other countries they ask you to try on traditional garb that you have been given as a gift,” he said. “The notion that the Clinton campaign would be trying to circulate this as a negative on the same day that Senator Clinton was giving a speech about how we repair our relationships around the world is sad.”

Every time I start getting scared of the messianic following Obama has, I’m reminded of the fact that Hillary Clinton is a vile, vile creature, and I rightly deserves to lose for resorting to tactics like this.

Just Desserts

The Democratic National Committee is charging McCain with violating McCain-Feingold.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers responded that “Howard Dean’s hypocrisy is breathtaking given that in 2003 he withdrew from the matching funds system in exactly the same way that John McCain is doing today.”

Dean and the DNC sought to emphasize that when Dean was running for president, he never hinged his loan on a promise of public financing.

You made this bed Johnny boy, and now you can sleep in it.

It’s 1972 All Over Again

Clayton Cramer surmises that Obama the Socialist Messiah may be George McGovern reincarnated:

The only good thing about being old is that you get to say, “I’ve seen this idiocy before!” It is increasingly apparent that the Democrats are planning to reprise the 1972 election–with a Republican that many Republicans didn’t like, because he wasn’t very conservative (the 55 mph national speed limit, wage and price controls) running against a very liberal Democrat that talked a lot about idealism.

Read the whole thing.  I don’t remember the 1972 presidential election, because I wasn’t born until two years later at the height of the Watergate scandal.

Were McGovern people cheering his nasal secretions too?
